Salesforce just bet its own interface is obsolete. Wall Street cheered.

Salesforce and Anthropic launched Claudeforce this week, a plugin with 37 prebuilt sales skills that lets sellers query, update, and act on live Salesforce data directly inside Claude, without opening the Salesforce app at all. Pilot customers have it today, with a broader beta rolling out in September.

The market reaction says as much as the product itself. Salesforce shares jumped 14 percent after hours on the news, on top of raised full year guidance.

For years, enterprise software competed on interface: the dashboard, the workflow, the app you had to learn to use. Claudeforce is a bet that the layer that wins now is reasoning, not the application wrapped around it. If that bet holds, the moat shifts from owning the workflow to owning the context an AI agent needs in order to act on it.

Every company with a CRM, ERP, or ticketing system is watching this number closely.
