Oracle AI Capex Layoffs

Oracle is planning another round of layoffs this month. Same week it disclosed $55.7 billion in AI infrastructure spending for the fiscal year, more than double the year before.

The company already cut 21,000 jobs in fiscal 2026, about 13 percent of its workforce, while borrowing $43 billion and raising another $5 billion in stock to fund data centers. It expects to raise roughly $40 billion more next year. Cash outflow already exceeds cash generated by $23.7 billion.

Here's the part that removes the ambiguity: in its own filings, Oracle attributed some of the reductions directly to the "adoption and deployment of AI technologies." Not a euphemism. Not analyst speculation. The company said it in writing.

Cloud infrastructure revenue grew 77 percent in the same period, so the AI bet is generating real growth. But investors aren't fully buying the story either. Oracle's stock is down about 26 percent this year.

That gap between rising revenue and falling valuation is the real signal. The market isn't questioning whether AI works. It's questioning whether the returns will ever justify the borrowing.

Where do you think Oracle's cuts actually fall: automation replacing the work, or payroll funding the infrastructure race?
