If calls are slipping between people — ringing out, landing in one person's voicemail, or never making it into the CRM — Aircall's site shows how its routing, shared inbox and AI Voice Agents handle that, and which plan includes what.

What Aircall does
Aircall is a cloud phone system that puts a team's calls, texts and voicemail into one shared workspace. Numbers are set up in the app rather than on desk hardware, incoming calls are routed through a keypad menu (IVR) and business-hours rules, and anyone on the team can see and pick up what is waiting in the shared call inbox.
Every call can be recorded and transcribed, and call activity syncs into the CRM or help desk the team already uses — Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive, Zendesk and Intercom among more than 250 integrations. On the higher plan, Aircall adds AI call summaries and conversation intelligence, smart routing that sends a caller to their account owner, and a queue callback so customers can hang up and be called back instead of waiting on hold.
Its AI Voice Agents answer calls on their own: they handle common questions, take caller details, book appointments and hand the call to a person with the context attached when it needs one. The same platform covers outbound work too, with a Power Dialer and outbound call campaigns for sales teams. Aircall is built for small and mid-sized teams and has a minimum of three licenses.
Key capabilities
AI Voice Agents
AI agents answer and resolve calls — answering common questions, collecting caller details, booking appointments — and transfer to a person with full context when needed.
IVR and Call Routing
A keypad menu and business-hours scheduling send each caller to the right team, and calls outside working hours go to voicemail instead of ringing out.
Shared Call Inbox
Calls, voicemails and texts land in one inbox the whole team can see, so a missed call is visible to everyone rather than sitting on one person's phone.
Recording and AI Transcripts
Calls are recorded and transcribed automatically; the higher plan adds AI call summaries, sentiment and key topics for each conversation.
Queue Callback and Smart Routing
Callers can choose a callback instead of holding, and smart routing uses CRM or help-desk data to reach the account owner or the right region.
Power Dialer and CRM Sync
Sales reps can dial an imported list in sequence with time for notes between calls, and activity logs to Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive and other connected tools.
Best for
- Small and mid-sized businesses with at least three people answering or making calls
- Support teams that need IVR, call routing and a shared inbox so incoming calls are not missed
- Businesses that want an AI agent to answer routine calls and pass the rest to a person
- Sales teams that want a power dialer and automatic call logging in Salesforce, HubSpot or Pipedrive
- Teams that want sales and support calling on one platform rather than two separate tools
Worth knowing
- There is a three-license minimum, so Aircall is not aimed at solo operators or two-person businesses; a lighter single-line tool will fit those better.
- Several features people associate with Aircall — AI call summaries, smart routing, queue callback and the Power Dialer — sit on the higher plan. Check Aircall's pricing page for which plan includes the features you actually need.
- AI Voice Agents come with a monthly allowance of minutes on the core plans, with more sold separately. Estimate your call volume before relying on the agent for every inbound call.
- Moving existing business numbers over (porting) depends on your current carrier, so plan the switch-over date rather than assuming it happens on day one.
- Vendor-neutral note: Aircall is one of several cloud phone systems for growing teams. If your main problem is a single owner missing calls on the job, an AI receptionist alone may solve it without changing your phone system.
How Aircall compares
Aircall sits among several cloud phone tools that look alike on a feature list. The deciding questions are team size, whether you need sales and support on one system, and how much of the phone you want an AI to answer.
vs Quo
Quo is a shared business phone and SMS line built for small teams, with AI that answers, transcribes and summarises calls. Aircall is aimed at somewhat larger teams — it has a three-license minimum — and adds contact-center routing such as IVR, smart routing and queue callback.
vs KrispCall
KrispCall is a cloud phone and SMS system for small teams that want a line running quickly, with an AI copilot for transcripts and replies. Aircall leans further into support routing and CRM and help-desk integrations, and adds AI Voice Agents that answer calls on their own.
vs CloudTalk
CloudTalk is the closest like-for-like: a cloud phone system for sales and support with dialers, AI call summaries and optional voice agents. Compare which features each includes in the plan you would buy and which are sold as add-ons, since both split them differently.
vs LucroVox
LucroVox is an AI voice agent that answers the phone around the clock and books jobs — it sits in front of your existing number. Aircall replaces the phone system itself and includes AI Voice Agents, so it suits a team that wants calling, routing and AI answering in one place.
