What Workiz does
Workiz is a field service management platform built for trades businesses — HVAC, plumbing, electrical, locksmith, junk removal, garage door, and appliance repair, among others. It brings scheduling, dispatching, invoicing, estimates, client CRM, and payment processing into a single connected system, so your office and field team are working from the same information.
On top of the core operations layer, Workiz offers a suite of AI solutions called Genius. Genius Answering handles incoming calls you would otherwise miss, books jobs, and supports dispatching around the clock. Genius Leads converts inbound emails into tracked leads automatically. The platform also supports automated messages — job reminders, on-my-way texts, review requests, and overdue invoice follow-ups — reducing the manual back-and-forth that eats into a busy day.
Workiz connects with QuickBooks for accounting, Stripe and its own payment solutions for getting paid in the field, Twilio for messaging infrastructure, and Google Local Services Ads for lead tracking. An online booking widget lets customers schedule directly from your website. The vendor states the platform is used by over 120,000 field service professionals and is designed to be set up without IT support, with onboarding typically taking days rather than weeks.
Key capabilities
Scheduling and dispatching
Convert leads into booked jobs quickly and assign the right technician from a shared calendar. Automated alerts notify techs of new or updated jobs.
AI call answering and booking
Genius Answering picks up calls 24/7, books jobs, and supports dispatching without a live operator. It also handles overflow when your team is unavailable.
Invoicing and payments
Create and send invoices from the field, accept card, tap-to-pay, and online payments, and automate follow-ups on overdue balances.
Workflow automation
Trigger automatic messages for job reminders, on-my-way notifications, review requests, and estimate follow-ups to reduce repetitive manual tasks.
Lead and ad tracking
Track where jobs are coming from, record and tag calls, and connect Google Local Services Ads so you can see which sources generate revenue.
Best for
- Small to mid-size trades businesses — HVAC, plumbing, electrical, locksmith, junk removal, garage door, appliance repair — that need scheduling, dispatch, and invoicing in one place
- Owner-operators who are losing jobs to missed calls and want an AI answering layer without hiring additional office staff
- Teams currently managing jobs on paper or spreadsheets who want a faster path to digital operations without a long IT implementation
- Businesses that bill and collect in the field and need mobile payment options tied directly to the job record
- Operations running up to roughly five users where the base paid plan aligns with headcount and cost expectations
Worth knowing
- Pricing stacks: the base paid plan covers core features, but AI solutions (Genius Answering, AI leads capture) and phone/SMS capabilities are add-ons that increase the monthly cost beyond the quoted base plan price
- The free Lite plan is limited to approximately 20 jobs per month, which may be too restrictive for a business evaluating it at scale
- Workiz is purpose-built for field service trades; businesses outside those industries — or those needing deep project management, complex inventory, or enterprise ERP integration — should evaluate whether the feature set matches their workflows
- AI answering and lead-capture features require additional configuration and add-on purchases; budget and test these separately before committing
- Implementation is estimated at one to two weeks, which is relatively fast, but businesses with complex existing data (customer histories, pricing books) should plan time for data migration
