Unitree Robotics IPO

Yesterday the public market didn't just price a stock. It priced an entire category.

Unitree Robotics, the Hangzhou-based maker of humanoid and quadruped robots, debuted on Shanghai's STAR Market and surged as much as 629% intraday, briefly valuing the company north of $60 billion on an IPO price of 150.8 yuan a share. It closed up 460%. The retail tranche was oversubscribed more than 5,500 times over.

This is the first humanoid robot maker to list on a mainland China exchange, and the demand tells you something the demo videos can't. Investors aren't betting on a research roadmap anymore. They're pricing humanoid robotics as a commercial category that's already here, the same way markets once repriced cloud infrastructure or EV supply chains once the revenue got real.

For anyone still treating humanoid robots as a five-years-out curiosity, this is the market saying otherwise.

What does it take to convince you a technology has crossed from hype to inevitable — a working demo, or a market cap?
