Nvidia AI Server Price Hike

Nvidia told its biggest customers to expect AI server prices to rise more than 15%.

Microsoft, Alphabet, and Oracle got the notice. The systems affected are next-gen Vera Rubin and Grace Blackwell builds slated for 2027 delivery. The stated cause: memory chip costs are climbing faster than anyone priced in.

Here's the tension nobody's naming directly. At the exact moment AI labs are locked in a price war on the API side, cutting rates to win developer share, the infrastructure underneath those models is getting more expensive to build. Compute providers are being squeezed from both ends: falling revenue per token on one side, rising capex on the other.

That math doesn't resolve itself. Either the price cuts on the model layer slow down, the infrastructure cost gets absorbed by hyperscalers with balance sheets deep enough to eat it, or someone passes the bill downstream to enterprise buyers who assumed AI costs only moved in one direction.

If you're budgeting AI infrastructure spend for 2027, this is the number to watch, not the sticker price of the next model release.

Where do you think that cost lands first: enterprise contracts, consumer pricing, or investor patience?
