Grok Bot Multi Model Routing

Elon Musk just said his own AI agent will run on someone else's models.

Late Tuesday, Musk said SpaceX's Grok Bot will "use the best back end model for any given task." He named Anthropic's Claude Opus 5.5 for heavy reasoning and coding, Midjourney for images, and Suno for audio and music, alongside other leading APIs. It comes after service outages and the rebrand of SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI.

The company that built its own frontier model is now treating models as interchangeable parts. Grok Bot becomes a routing layer, not a single-vendor agent.

That is the bigger signal. If the owner of a frontier lab concludes that no single model wins every task, the advantage is no longer the model. It is the orchestration: which model handles which task, how the results get stitched together, and what happens when one of them fails.

For enterprise leaders, this changes the buying question. Instead of asking which model to standardize on, ask whether your architecture lets you swap models as quickly as the market moves them.

Is your AI stack built around one model, or around the workflow that can use any of them?
