What Elastic AI Assistant does

Elastic AI Assistant is built directly into the Elasticsearch platform, so there is no separate tool to install or connect. IT and engineering teams use it to query data and investigate security alerts by typing questions in natural language, rather than writing search or analytics code by hand.

On the security side, the assistant helps analysts work through alerts — pulling in relevant log data, surfacing context, and supporting the investigation workflow inside Kibana. On the data side, it lets users explore and analyze information stored in Elasticsearch without needing deep familiarity with query syntax.

Because it lives inside Elastic Cloud, the assistant inherits the platform's existing connections to AWS, Azure, GCP, and Kibana. Teams already running Elasticsearch get access without a separate procurement step — it is included in their Elastic Cloud subscription.

Key capabilities

Natural Language Data Queries

Users can ask questions about data stored in Elasticsearch in plain English. This lowers the skill barrier for exploring and analyzing information without writing code.

Security Alert Investigation

The assistant supports threat detection and investigation workflows, helping security teams work through alerts and gather relevant context inside the same platform they already use.

Works Inside Kibana

Because the assistant is embedded in Kibana, analysts and engineers interact with it alongside their existing dashboards and data views — no context switching to a separate application.

Cloud-Native Deployment

It runs on Elastic Cloud across AWS, Azure, and GCP. Teams can deploy on whichever cloud provider they already use, or self-manage if they prefer.

No Additional Licensing Cost

The assistant is included in Elastic Cloud rather than sold as a separate add-on, so existing subscribers do not face an extra line item to start using it.

Best for

  • IT and engineering teams already running Elasticsearch or Elastic Cloud who want to get more from their existing investment
  • Security operations teams that investigate alerts inside Kibana and want to reduce manual query work
  • Organizations that store large volumes of log or event data in Elasticsearch and want broader access to that data without requiring query expertise
  • Teams on AWS, Azure, or GCP looking for an AI assistant that fits naturally into their current cloud setup
  • Businesses with a 2–4 week implementation window and a preference for low-risk adoption

Worth knowing

  • This tool only makes sense if your organization is already on Elastic Cloud or prepared to adopt it — the assistant is not available as a standalone product
  • If your data lives primarily outside Elasticsearch, you would need to ingest it first, which adds scope before the assistant becomes useful
  • The primary use cases are IT, engineering, and security — teams in other functions such as finance, HR, or marketing may find limited direct value
  • Implementation is estimated at 2–4 weeks, which is relatively light, but assumes your Elasticsearch environment is reasonably well-structured already
  • Organizations evaluating general-purpose AI assistants not tied to a specific data platform should compare this against standalone tools — the Elastic AI Assistant is purpose-built for Elasticsearch workflows, not broad productivity use
