What Fathom does
Fathom joins your video calls and automatically produces a transcript, a summary, and a list of action items as soon as the call ends. It works with Google Meet, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams, and it can operate either as an in-meeting bot or without one through a desktop app — so you have a choice about how it appears to other participants.
After each meeting, notes and action items sync automatically to the solutions your team already uses, including Slack, Salesforce, HubSpot, and Asana. You can also query your meeting history through an 'Ask Fathom' feature that connects to ChatGPT and Claude, letting you surface information from past conversations without manually searching transcripts.
Fathom is used across sales, customer success, marketing, and operations teams. For sales teams in particular it offers CRM updates and AI Scorecards that managers can use to review calls and coach reps. Across all roles, the core promise is the same: less time on notes and follow-up, more time on the actual work.
Key capabilities
Automatic transcripts and summaries
Fathom produces a transcript and a structured summary immediately after each call, delivered to your inbox. Summaries can be customised to fit your team's workflow and priorities.
Action item capture
Action items are pulled from the conversation and recorded automatically, reducing the manual step of writing up next steps after a meeting.
CRM and solution sync
Meeting notes and insights flow automatically into Salesforce, HubSpot, Asana, and Slack without manual data entry. Zapier extends this to other solutions.
Search across past meetings
The 'Ask Fathom' feature lets you query your meeting history in plain language. It also connects with ChatGPT and Claude for deeper analysis of your conversation data.
AI Scorecards for coaching
Managers can use AI-generated scorecards to review call performance and identify coaching opportunities across the sales or customer success team.
Bot-free capture option
A desktop app lets Fathom record meetings without sending a visible bot into the call, giving teams more flexibility in how they use the solution.
Best for
- Sales and customer success teams who spend a significant portion of their day in external calls and currently update CRMs manually afterwards
- Managers who want a structured way to review team calls and coach based on what was actually said
- Small teams or individuals who want a free starting point — Fathom has a free individual tier with no stated time limit
- Organisations already using Salesforce, HubSpot, Slack, or Asana who want meeting data to flow into those systems automatically
- Teams that run many internal meetings and want a searchable record of decisions and commitments across conversations
Worth knowing
- The free plan covers individual users only; team-level features such as shared visibility and CRM sync require a paid plan starting at $15–19 per user per month, so costs scale with headcount
- Business-tier features — which include more advanced team and admin controls — run $25–34 per user per month; confirm which features your team actually needs before choosing a tier
- Fathom works with Google Meet, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams; if your organisation uses a different video platform, check compatibility before committing
- The solution focuses on meeting capture and synthesis — it is not a project management or CRM platform in its own right, so it works best when paired with the solutions your team already uses for follow-through
- HIPAA, GDPR, and SOC 2 Type II compliance are listed, which matters for teams in regulated industries, but your legal or IT team should review the specific data-handling terms for your context
