Colorado AI Act

June 30 is 55 days away. If your company deploys AI in Colorado, the clock is running.

The Colorado AI Act becomes the first comprehensive state AI law in the U.S. to take effect — and it puts real obligations on any business using AI systems that affect consequential decisions: employment, credit, healthcare, insurance, housing.

The requirements aren't light. Companies must implement a written risk management program, conduct impact assessments before deployment, disclose when AI is being used in covered decisions, and demonstrate they've taken reasonable care to prevent algorithmic discrimination.

Here's the tension: the White House wants Congress to preempt state AI laws like this one with a single national standard. But that legislation hasn't passed. So right now, Colorado's law is live — and more states are moving in the same direction.

The companies that treat AI compliance as a legal checkbox will scramble. The ones that build governance infrastructure now will have a repeatable model for every state law that follows.

Is your organization tracking AI regulatory compliance as seriously as data privacy compliance?
