Claude Fable 5 Usage Credits

Within days, a frontier model moves from "included" to "metered." That's the real story.

Anthropic is pulling Claude Fable 5 out of the Pro, Max, Team, and select Enterprise bundles. After a short extension, included access ends July 12, and continued use runs on usage credits at the standard API rate: $10 per million input tokens, $50 per million output tokens.

The number that matters isn't the price. It's the shift in posture.

For months, teams treated frontier models like a flat-rate utility. Build freely, experiment freely, ship freely. Metered pricing changes the calculus overnight. Every workflow now carries a marginal cost, and the workflows nobody measured are about to get measured.

This is what maturity looks like in enterprise AI. The free-tier land grab is ending, and unit economics are arriving. The teams that win the next phase won't be the ones with the most access. They'll be the ones who know exactly what each automated task costs and what it returns.
