Anthropic TPU Financing 10 Percent Yield

Anthropic is reportedly offering Blackstone a yield above 10% to anchor part of a $60B financing for its Google TPU lease.

That is the number worth sitting with. The FT reports the package is arranged by Broadcom: a $42B senior tranche plus an $18B junior tranche, with Blackstone asked to take $9B of the junior piece. The collateral is a five-year lease on compute.

For two years the AI story was told in model benchmarks and revenue run rates. This week it is told in coupons. When one of the best-capitalized labs in the world has to pay double digits to fund chips, the cost of compute is no longer a technology question. It is a credit question.

Consider the context. CoreWeave's 9.625% bond due 2032 reportedly trades at a 14.8% yield. Hyperscalers are borrowing billions. Nvidia is assembling more than $500B of financing platforms with Apollo, BlackRock, KKR and others. The pattern is consistent: the binding constraint on AI is moving from talent and algorithms to the price of capital.

For enterprise leaders, the implication is practical. The vendors you build on carry real financing risk, and that risk eventually shows up in pricing, contract terms and roadmap priorities. Ask your AI vendors how their compute is funded, not only how their models score.

Which matters more to your AI roadmap over the next two years: model capability or your vendor's cost of capital?
