Anthropic S1 IPO Filing
Anthropic's S-1 puts the first audited numbers on frontier AI economics: $16.3B in revenue for the first half of 2026, up from $1.16B a year earlier.
The headline net loss is $80.7B, which looks alarming until you read the footnotes. $72.4B of it is an accounting charge on convertible notes that revalued as the company did. The operating loss was $693M, and on an adjusted basis the company made $1.6B.
The bigger number is on the commitment side. Anthropic has committed $542B to $567B in future compute and infrastructure, against $112.4B in cash after raising $141.1B in total.
My read: the filing shows demand is not the risk. The risk is that revenue now has to keep growing fast enough to carry half a trillion dollars of fixed obligations.
For enterprise buyers, that matters in a practical way. The vendors you build workflows on are betting their balance sheets on usage compounding. Pricing, capacity and contract terms will all reflect that bet.
If you are choosing a model vendor today, how much weight do you give to their financial structure, not only their benchmarks?
