Anthropic November IPO

Anthropic is reportedly targeting a mid-November IPO at up to a $2 trillion valuation, which would make it the largest public offering in history.

The numbers are hard to ignore. Its last private valuation was $965 billion in May. Proceeds could reach $100 billion. Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan are said to be leading the underwriting, with marketing starting the week of November 9.

Here is what I think is the real story. Anthropic's own prospectus reportedly warns that the technology it is building could pose a catastrophic or existential risk to humanity. A company is asking public markets to price that sentence into a $2 trillion valuation.

For executives, this changes the conversation. Once a frontier lab reports quarterly, its pricing, roadmap and safety posture become subject to earnings pressure. The vendors you build on will be accountable to shareholders, not only to researchers.

If you are betting your workflow on one model provider, an IPO is a good moment to revisit how portable that bet is.

Do you read a public Anthropic as a more stable partner for enterprise buyers, or a more pressured one?
